Penis Enlargening Creams?

You find them at every street corner and bare wall posters 

So glaring are the tables laden with bottles labelled mutototo, strong man, Penis Cream that you have no choice but to notice them.

Then you have the posters “Penis Cream; increases Energy and Enlargement, call Dr Ibrahim”.

The posters are so intricately designed; they have little sleeves of paper you can pull off with the same message, and a number to call if you need you have your manhood enlarged. 

The fact that the little sleeves run out means that people do pull them out as also evidenced by the fact that the wall has many old posters without sleeves.

The use of these herbs has become so rampant that one does not even bat an eyelid at their presence in the streets an indication that they have come to be seen as normal.

Yet it still begs the question of why they are being used so widely.

It is a trend that has seen men of different tribes use these herbs regardless of what part of the country they are from.

Is it an issue of low self esteem, because it is no secret that men have an issue with size, begging statements such as, “Size does not matter and other reassurances that women have to constantly dish out to assuage a man’s ego.”

 

There is an episode of Mwine Mushi where Kasaka went and enlargened his manhood by using herbs and a branch as a focal point.

He sprinkles medicine on the branch and on his manhood, and he is given strict instructions to cut the branch once he’s manhood reaches its desired size but alas Kasaka forgets where the tree is located and everything keeps growing.

The episode is very re enactive of what does happen in society as Jamal Pemba (not his real name) attests:

“When I was growing up, our manhood’s were analysed and checked for growth, I remember that when we reached puberty some of my less endowed cousins were given herbs to help enhance their size. I have also taken herbs to ensure I last longer during intercourse.” 

Pemba says that there is immense pressure on to have the right size men and to last a long time in bed.

“Women have high expectations from men, I grew up around ladies so I definitely know how they chat about males who are not so well endowed, they will laugh at how we lack skill and how fast we are. You cannot help but have a low self esteem.” He enthuses

 His sentiments apparently hit home as Muta Banda says: “Look I won’t lie to you, I do use some of these herbs that promise to make you last longer. I am a man and at the end of the day, how I perform in bed is vital.” Banda says 

Jemima Mutale however laughs off the idea that men acquire enlargement and strengthening potions because of women citing low self esteem as their main reason.

“Men just have issues with their private part, women have always emphasised that size does not matter yet they still line up at ngangas (traditional healers) houses. 

An example have you noticed how men chew groundnuts just because they believe it will give them sexual potency? 

They will eat, drink or apply anything that they believe will give them sexual potency regardless of whether their woman has complained or not. ” Mutale says

An herb seller along Freedom Way in Lusaka attests to the fact that people from all works of life do buy her merchandise. 

“Some of my clientele do come over to buy herbs at my little table, but some just prefer to call me and then I make deliveries to their offices.

“Some people think that rich people do not buy herbs but some of my clientele are apa mwambas (prominent people). 

They might have girlfriends as well as their wives so they need to impress their girlfriends whilst also satisfying their wives at home. “

 She says that high levels of promiscuity have contributed to people making comparisons and not been generally satisfied with what they have.

“If you marry someone and both of you are virgins you will not have anyone to compare your spouse to and you will generally be more satisfied with what you both have.”

 Coming from a woman who makes a living off people’s insecurities this is an astute observation.

Traditional Health Practitioners Association of Zambia (THPAZ) president Dr Rodwell Vongo says that penis enlargement can only be done when one is young.

“Only children up to 13 or 15 years of age can enlarge their private parts an older man cannot enlarge. The people advertising on the streets about enlargement are just stealing people’s money. ”

Dr Vongo says adding that THPAZ members do not advertise their services because it is unethical.

 He complains that his association has on numerous occasions written to Media Houses calling on them to ban advertisements from traditional healers with no success.

 “Those who advertise on the streets or in the media are not our members, Look our forefathers never advertised. If they were good healers’ people went there until the particular healer died, there was no advertising. ”

The fact that THPAZ has distanced itself from the Traditional healers leaves one with questions as to how these creams and powders are been sold.

It also begs the most important question of whether they work, a debate that clearly will not end.

Meanwhile, the trade continues as another man visits a stand to procure mutototo and strong man cream. 

The walls have even been defaced by the posters put up every day
