The Crime squad infamously known as C5 evoke images of gun totting trigger happy movie characters.
Today I was meant to knock off early after all it is friday and I have a Fally Ipupa (bated breath)concert to cover but I am stuck on my desk ranting about this injustice.
Let me get to the point, our driver was taking some other reporters to an assignment with the first lady, and just because he was running late and hooted to the C5, police brutality at its best took place.
This is only one of the many incidents folks have complained about this treatment.
Apart from their every day job (which lies between hunting down criminals and gunning them down.) the squad also manage to incite fear in ordinary citizens.
Images of poor hapless citizens running at the sight of the men in black is quite dis heartening; these men are meant to protect us.
Pushing traffic out the way, yelling at other motorists the C5 thats the C5 for you.
I wonder what would happen in the event of a stray bullet (shudders) perhaps going into a child.
Imagine six men pointing guns at an unarmed person in traffic.
One gets the feeling that they think they are above the law, the fact that the driver was beaten up in public in full view of other police officers proves this.
Perhaps it is over indulgence in American movies but what ever the case, how should we as citizens live in a country where we are afraid of they who are meant to be our shields.
Like I said I have to go so excuse the lack of vibrancy am feeling rather angry.
SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE AND SOON.
