We live in a society that believes that a woman's infidelity is infinitely worse than a mans.
A Bemba proverb says " Ubuchende bwa mwaume tabu onaula inganda" meaning a mans infidelity does not break a home.
Of course there should be great store placed on a womans virtue and dignity BUT not to the point of her life been taken.
This unfair scenario means that a woman can be raped but she will still be taunted and asked if she did not attract that rape in any way.
Frederick Douglas once said, "No man has any right to rape a woman even if she walks in the street naked."
I once posted his words on facebook and the major comments focused on the woman walking down the street and not on the rape itself.
It is an indisputable fact that some women do dress scantily but this does NOT warrant rape.
The killings of women who are raped in the middle East is pathetic; why should a young girl be beaten just because some man took advantage of her .
How is it her fault that some sick minded man sees her as a sex object even while she is covered in six layers of hijab.

I am also bitter about the fact that thousands of women and little girls are been raped everyday in the Congo yet we are silent.
We see tweets everyday about the Gaza issue yet as Africans we are conspicuously quiet about the war in Congo.
The African Union which is supposed to be a beacon of hope for our women is quiet. Our African Union Leader is a woman thus this should be the era of fewer rapes, fewer GBV cases.
We have to see more pressure been put on Nations to step up and protect their women.
And we must not sit back anymore and expect other continents to condemn the killings and rape in the Congo.
